Caring For Your natural stone

Tips For Preserving Stone's Natural Beauty

Your stone surfaces will provide you with years of lasting beauty with a little care and maintenance. Warm water, mild dishwashing liquid, and a soft clean cloth are generally all that is needed to maintain natural stone surfaces. Should a stain occur, it can usually be removed.

In order to preserve your stone's beauty:

  • Wipe up spills immediately.
  • Protect countertop surfaces with coasters or placemats.
  • Clean surfaces with a mild detergent. Mild dishwashing liquid can be mixed with water to clean most natural stone surfaces.
  • Do not use vinegar, lemon juice or other cleaners containing acids or ammonia.
  • Never use abrasive cleaners on a natural stone surface.
  • Do not place hot items directly on the stone surface as it can dull the polish over time.

Tips for Preserving Your Engineered Stone's Beauty

In order to preserve your stone's beauty:

  • Clean surfaces with a mild soap and soft cloth. Always use non-bleach and non-abrasive cleaners
  • Clean up liquids promptly after a spill.
  • Remove ink  carefully with an oil-based cleaner. Rinse with warm water after the stain is removed.
  • Difficult stains to remove such as nail polish can be removed with a mixture of water and Bar Keepers Friend® or a Mr. Clean® Magic Eraser.
  • Quartz can resist temperatures up to 300 degrees Fahrenheit but can be damaged by drastic changes in temperature ("Thermal Shock"). Use hot pads for pans, crockpots, and electric skillets.
  • Though they are very scratch resistant, avoid using knives on Quartz countertops as they may be damaged when hit forcefully with sharp objects. A cutting board is recommended.
  • Avoid strong pressure or force on your surfaces, such as dropping a heavy pot or pan, as it can crack or chip the stone.
